Today I turn 29. The eve of my thirties. This past year was a quite a whirlwind. I went to Europe, finished grad school, we moved to Georgia (again), and I started a new job. I guess I need to finish all of my 30 by 30 goals in the next year. 1. Read the […]
From the Eiffel Tower, we hoofed it down to the River Seine because our cruise was leaving at 6 pm whether or not we were on it. Again, #firstworldproblem complaint, we almost missed the cruise because our tour guide took us to a *$@!##$@ perfume factory and made us late to the Eiffel Tower. The weather […]
Apologies for the hiatus in my Euro-trip updates. I was staying in a hotel for work training, and my computer decided to stop recognizing the hotel internet. But here’s a life update before we get back to Europe! Back in June, I was scrolling through the MWR guide for Fort Gordon. I noticed an education […]
After Mario took us on an unwanted trip to a perfume factory, we finally made it to the Eiffel Tower. We walked up only to discover that he hadn’t picked up our tickets even though we got there about 40 minutes after our designated time. But we made it to the top to take in […]
As promised, here are the many stained glass windows in Notre Dame. The windows are really beautiful, and you should definitely leave time in your visit to admire them.
Do me a solid and hit play. Notre Dame is one of those quintessential Europe spots that needs no introduction. It might be a bit tourist-heavy, but I really think it’s worth the visit. The detail is exquisite, and the sheer scale of the cathedral is incredible. In his infinite wisdom, our tour guide from […]
Saint-Severin is a rather famous church in the Parisian Latin Quarter. It’s one of the oldest churches on the Left Bank and is in continual use. We stopped here during our walking tour and before we visited Notre Dame. It is exceptionally beautiful and is worth the stop.
After Cite Internationale, we headed out on a walking tour of Paris. We started in the arrondissement near Notre Dame, hopped on the Paris metro to check out the Palais Garnier (the opera house featured in The Phantom of the Opera), and ended with a rage-filled group protesting our tour guide. We had tickets for […]
As I mentioned in my Oxford post, our whole trip to Europe was to learn more about international higher education. Our institution visit in Paris was to Cite Internationale, a residential campus for foreign students living and studying in Paris. The concept is wholly unique and really cool. Essentially, a bunch of different countries sponsor […]
