I was watching the Barefoot Contessa the other day, and Ina made this recipe as a twist on her usual Friday night chicken. It’s your standard dip in a liquid then in breadcrumbs, but you mix white wine and a Dijon or other flavorful mustard together. Aside from the fact that I massively overcooked it […]
Archives for April 2015
1. We have a unit ball tonight, so I’m posting this a day early. #idowhatiwant 2. Mac has grand ambitions to start off his long weekend by seeing the new Avengers movie tomorrow morning. He suggested (quite seriously) that we got to the 9:40 am show. 3. In my quest to try new things, I […]
I’ll totally admit to sucking at blogging the past two weeks. I have a ton of drafts that I just haven’t been motivated enough to finish (or to clean my house enough to photograph). I’m joining with Alex and Amanda for their 4×4 link up this month! It’s a recap of four favorites from each month. […]
This is my preferred pasta salad recipe. I made it last week for our FRG potluck, and it was one of three sides (for like 150 people). The recipe is really easy to double or triple: it’s basically 2 parts pasta to 1 part everything else. Enjoy!

1. I say “finally” because Mac hasn’t had a weekend since Easter. He spent two solid weeks in the field, came home Monday night, and had to be back at work at 8 am on Tuesday. 2. Because Mac is gone so much, I can adjust to him being home or not pretty quickly. Monday […]

If you went anywhere near social media yesterday, you probably heard about the Lilly for Target craziness. Personally, I like Lilly Pulitzer’s stuff, but I’m not obsessed. Lilly’s bright prints and lightweight fabrics are great for vacations, but I’m way too cheap to buy anything full price. I tend to buy on their final sale because […]
Considering it snowed 3 inches last night, I don’t know if spring is fully here in Colorado. I’m a big fan of spring cleaning, if only because it signals the fresh start of a new season and I wind up with a clean house. I’m not a fan of the actual cleaning aspect. My main […]
8 years. It’s been 8 years since April 16th, 2007. I’ve now spent more April 16ths away from Blacksburg than I spent there. Though the years go by, the emotions of the day never change. The lovely Kate from A Thought and A Half texted me yesterday to ask about writing about April 16th. I’m […]
