Last night, Mac was on duty, so we really couldn’t make any plans. Being the good wife I am, I brought him dinner (okay, okay, it was KFC, but it still counts). He told me earlier in the week that we would be going out on a date tonight to our favorite Italian restaurant, Luigi’s. We shall see considering he’s still asleep. Wanderlust
So I mentioned a few weeks back that Mac and I will be moving to Augusta this summer. After that, we really don’t have a set destination. But we have created a short list of places we would like to go if Mac could get a job there. Augusta Source Pros: only moving once this year, reasonably close to our friends and family, THE SOUTH Cons: apparently, Augusta around The… View Post »
Happy blogiversary!
Happy first birthday, baby blog! It’s hard to believe that I’ve already been blogging a year. Truthfully, I was expecting overnight fame and fortune, but I wouldn’t change my experience for the world. I love logging on and seeing new readers and comments (even if I don’t respond. Whoops). Thanks for sticking with me in my blogging adventures. Source In honor of my blogiversary, I finally updated my blog menu…. View Post »
El cunado, redux
I can finally announce that my older sister, Leslie, and her boyfriend, Adam, are engaged! He popped the question right before the new year, they decided to order a custom ring and setting (our grandmother gave Leslie the stone from her engagement ring), and didn’t tell anyone (beside me) until the ring came in. Umm, over three weeks of silence. My parents were rather impressed. She called me the other… View Post »
I got my mind on my money
And my money on my mind. I finally bit the bullet and started working on a budget. First, I created an Excel spreadsheet: I listed our incomes at the top, our monthly bills, and monthly expenses. As I book classes and get paid, I’ll update how much I make. Excel has a bunch of great formulas and shortcuts; I utilized auto sum and subtraction. Bills are exact amounts, while expenses… View Post »
Furniture window shopping
As I mentioned, we’re going to buy some more furniture in the not-so-distant future. We’ve gone furniture window shopping a few times in the past months to kind of gauge what we like and what we should expect to pay. In all, we own a bedroom set, a guest room bed, a desk, and few bookshelves. First up: washer and dryer. We obviously need these and will move them with… View Post »
Semi-employed life
Please enjoy some Third Eye Blind / somewhat post title inspiration. Apparently, this song is about meth addiction? I missed that when I was 9. Then again, I also missed that “Hotel California” was about drug addiction. I asked Mac. Of course, he knew it was about meth addiction. Clearly, I’m not as wise in the ways of the world as he is. These days, I spend my time as… View Post »
Famous last words
My autobiography should be titled thusly: I Only Needed One Thing From Target. I went in for a birthday card (yes, Jeymie, it’s for you! And it’s a week late. But the thought counts, right?) and spent $45 on an adorable London mug, new yoga pants, a wooden cutting board, and a packing list notepad (I’m notoriously bad at forgetting to pack things). There must be something in the air (maybe… View Post »
Just wanna wear those 14 pearls
It’s Martin Luther King Day weekend. The weather in Blacksburg has been (as usual) bat-shit crazy.I’m getting sick. The coughing has turned to an aching in my right elbow. That means it’s… RECRUITMENT SEASON. This level of excitement directed at decorating your house, wearing heels 15 hours a day, not drinking for over two weeks, avoiding restaurants that served alcohol after 9 PM, and speed dating with girls instead of crashing… View Post »
