As the year draws to a close Since I procrastinated in posting this, I’ve decided to look back at my favorite moments from 2012. 1. Spending a whole year (well, he was stateside for all of it) with Mac. 2. Celebrating our wedding with our friends and family. 3. Starting this blog and watching it grow. Thanks to all of my readers for sticking with me! 4. Homecoming in Blacksburg…. View Post »
What are you doing New Years Eve?
Since I graduated college in 2010, my friends and I have used New Years Eve as a way to reconnect after long times apart. In 2010, we met up at a private party hosted by some of our Baltimore friends’ favorite bar. It was open bar, full catering, DJ, the whole nine yards. I was rather impressed. 2011 saw us ringing in the New Year, Bourbon Street style. We decided… View Post »
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, y’all! We’re spending today at my parents’ house in PA and having Christmas dinner at my grandparents’ house (about 40 minutes away from here). Our first official Christmas card! I hope everyone is able to spend a safe holiday with your friends and family. God Bless!
My easy Christmas card holder
I was inspired by a few different ribbon Christmas card holders, so I decided to whip up one of my own. I was planning on using plain clothespins but found much better ones in the dollar bins at Michael’s. You will need: Basswood slightly wider than your ribbonRibbon (mine is last season from Michael’s)Festive clothespins3M strips or hooks (we used clear hooks) 1. Cut the ribbon with an extra inch or… View Post »
On the road again
Thus begins another holiday road trip. We’re spending Christmas at my parents’ and stopping for a lay-over at the in-laws first. We’ll make a quick trip to eastern PA to visit some of Mac’s extended family then head back to the in-laws for New Years. So much driving. I whipped up a road trip kit for these long drives because we (mostly Mac) always need the same things. And this… View Post »
Week 5, staying alive
Yesterday, I had my weekly Ideal Protein weigh-in. PMS is a bitch, so I was all bloated and generally felt like the Pillsbury Doughboy. Another joyous side effect of this was weight gain. We’re pretty sure I didn’t gain any actual weight because of the inches lost. Everything that appeared around my belly last week is gone, but I haven’t noticed (please see bloating above). Source Here are my stats:… View Post »
Recent reads – December 2012
Here’s what I’ve been reading lately! Mary Boleyn: The Mistress of Kings – Alison Weir I’ve been fascinated by the true story of Mary Boleyn since reading Philippa Gregory’s classic The Other Boleyn Girl. Obviously eclipsed by her sister, Queen Anne, Mary’s story has been contorted and exaggerated over hundreds of years. Her reputation eroded into a wanton, love-lorn woman and mother of King Henry VIII’s bastard children. Weir details… View Post »
A moment of silence
Today, bloggers are asking for a day of silence in remembrance for those at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. Please join me and many others in supporting the families, loved ones, and friends of 26 new angels.
I think my scale is broken
When I started Ideal Protein, I weighed myself at home on my scale in the garage before heading over to the chiro’s office. My weight matched what the chiro’s scale said. Over the next two weeks, my scale seemed to be about two pounds heavier (no complaints here, honey), so I’ve factored that in when weighing myself. Today, my morning scale check showed me about a pound or so lighter… View Post »
